SC010
human based, data driven, open building
Human based, data driven, open building. Human based because the human scale and the way it going to be used, is significant, and not self-evident, for data driven architecture. SC010 is a University of Applied Sport Sciences. The great variety of communal space shape the identity of the architecture. It is going support an inclusive community. Data driven, because the premises of SC010 is shaped by data. Data about grid-sizes, ceiling height, average spans, the carbon dioxide equivalent and the degree of facilitating the possibilities for a free lay-out. Open Building, because SC010 facilitates a separation of the support and the infill. Thereby it is adaptable, flexible, demountable and circular. SC010 maximizes its lifespan and minimizes its ecological footprint.
SC010 is adaptable and able to change its main function. Over and over again.
The architecture is integrated in the urban tissue by following the existing mobility lines. The building adds two interior axis. The transparent and more lively functions, such as the restaurant and the offices, are connected to the dynamic and sporty boulevard.
The distinctive architecture results naturally from the function layout. The exterior mirrors the harbour identity in an own, green and sustainable way.
The short axis in the centre of the building, forms the communal space inside the building. This is the core of the building and offers an overview for orientation.
The other, long axis, forms the connection from the entrance to the waterside and creates the access to all the functions.
SC010 is a climate machine. The slats serve as blinds for all the sun orientated glass surfaces. The under floor heating, as well as the cooling ceiling, is driven by a ground heat exchanger. All facades are well insulated, with an average insulation value of 7,7 (m²·K/W). SC010 has a demand-driven ventilation system D. The slats in the sports hall are fully closable to avoid reflections and oversaturation.
SC010 consist of Shearing Layers, according to the concept of Stewart Brand. All layers are demountable of each other and have their own lifespan. The columns are demountable and separable in 4 pieces, to improve adaptability and counteract sound transmission. The walls and floors are fully demountable. The raised floor system makes it possible to place toilets everywhere in a radius of 16 meters from the shaft. The façade is demountable and offers a prefixed system to add balconies or insulation in the future. This results in a new way of technical engineering. Everything is separated and demountable. The raised floor systems forms the zone for sewage. The ceiling is the air purification zone.
